From selecting the right factory or business partner, to protecting confidential know-how, securing intellectual property and resolving disputes, our practice spans the full lifecycle of doing business in and with China.
Identifying trusted innovation labs and product-development partners at the idea stage, with legal safeguards for confidentiality, non-use, development and prototyping, IP ownership and assignment, milestones, delivery terms and anti-copying protection.
Drafting and negotiating NDAs and NNN agreements, manufacturing, supply, development, licensing and service contracts, and providing legal support in discussions with innovation labs, factories, suppliers and business partners.
Verifying manufacturers, suppliers and counterparties before engagement or payment — corporate registration, licences, ownership, litigation exposure, credit standing, compliance history and other operational red flags.
Patents (inventions and utility models), designs, trademarks, copyright and software-copyright registration, with trade-secret protection, licensing and enforcement — from strategy and filing through to administrative action, litigation and cross-border protection.
Foreign investment, company formation, mergers and acquisitions, contracts, governance and corporate compliance for businesses operating in and with China.
Inbound and outbound investment, market access, international trade, sourcing and manufacturing arrangements, import-export issues and regulatory approvals — with documentation prepared in both Chinese and English.
Legal, regulatory and transactional due diligence and risk assessment for investors, acquirers and counterparties entering or expanding in the Chinese market — including deal-structure review, document risk analysis and compliance support.
Representation in intellectual-property, commercial, manufacturing, supply-chain and contractual disputes before the People's Courts and arbitration tribunals — from infringement and breach-of-contract claims to high-value post-transaction conflict.
Many client matters span multiple practice areas. Our attorneys-at-law, patent attorneys, trademark attorneys and technical professionals work as one team — and where product development support is needed, we coordinate closely with trusted innovation labs and development partners, keeping legal, technical and commercial strategy aligned from concept to dispute resolution.
Founded in Shanghai and built upon an internationally recognised intellectual-property practice, Sunbow advises innovators, entrepreneurs, investors and established businesses throughout the entire commercial journey. We help transform ideas into protected assets, structure and scale businesses, navigate manufacturing and supply chains, and safeguard products as they enter international markets.
Our perspective is inherently international. Working seamlessly in Chinese and English, we combine deep knowledge of the Chinese legal and business environment with a global network of trusted professionals across more than 25 countries — supporting clients wherever opportunity, investment, sourcing or expansion takes them.
Our team includes attorneys-at-law, patent attorneys, trademark attorneys and technical professionals with advanced qualifications in law, science and technology, many of whom have spent over a decade advising at leading Chinese and international firms. By integrating legal, technical and commercial expertise, we deliver practical solutions that align innovation, business strategy and risk management.
